Smelly house??

It is a fact that if you have cats, especially if you have alot of cats, your house surely smells.. I did some research on this fact, and here are tips for no more stinky house!!

1. Neuter kitty (the best before kitty learns to spray). Not neutered male will spray to mark their territory, and also when they wanna mate. Some not neutered female tends to pee at pillow, sheets, sofa, when they are horny. To give hint to male that there is female here.. wanna mate??

2. Litter train your kitty. Don't let your kitty to pee n poo at your garden or toilet. Some may say, it is cost saving if you train kitty to pee and poo at toilet floor. Yes! it is cost saving, but it gonna smells. How if you're gonna be out for one whole day, the wind close the toilet door, kitty cant go in, so it pee at living room floor. Don't you know that once kitty pee, the smells stay though you clean with odor remover, it will still pee the same place! My friend experience it. ever since her kitten pee and poo at living room, all of her litter trained cats start to pee and poo there too, though there's litter box nearby. All depends on their mood. If kitty too lazy to walk to litter box, kitty poo at floor, if kitty happy, kitty go poo at litter box.

3. Put litter box far from public area. Doing poo poo business should be done full of privacy. Like human, we can't poo poo while people starring at us or toilet door wide open with people passing by right? same like kitty. You may try putting the litter box somewhere you think your kitty will enjoy doing the business. For you living in condo or apartment, maybe can put it at your drying area, or balcony. For me, living at townhouse with garden, i put their toilet at the patio. Best litter box is one with hood.

4. Clean litter box frequently. Dont clean litter box once a week. At least clean once a day. All depends on how many cats you have. If you have more than 3 cats, clean litter box 2times a day. If you have more than 6cats, clean litter box 3times a day.

5. Change litter frequently.
Read litter's label. Some litter needs to be change once a week, some once a month. How frequent you need to chance litter also depends on how many cats you have. Some of good economical litter brand that I've done experiment on are fussy cat clumping litter, Purina tidy cats litter, feline fresh pine litter.

6. Ventilation is important. Make sure your house has air flow. Open your sliding door, or window to allow air circulate. I always open my living room sliding door.

7. Clean your house. House, especially floor must be sweep everyday, vacuum and mop once a week. All depends on how many cats you have at home, indoor or indoor+outdoor cats, long or short haired. I usually sweep the floor atleast once a day, vacuum and mop atleast once a week.

8. Have bowls for kitty. Dont feed kitty on the floor. Instead, let them have their own bowl. Food remains on the floor will rot and flies and ants starting to appear. It smells too. Besides, poor kitty's tounge licking the rough floor.
